Scientists have simplified the science of maintaining strong brain health down to three recommendations!
- Physical Activity – We all know that a sedentary lifestyle is NOT healthy for our bodies but physical activity is actually KEY to brain health. Staying active helps to develop the central nervous system and counteract aging of the brain.
- Social Activity – Some people are more naturally drawn to social activity but it’s stressed that no one should isolate. Some people prefer a quiet night in instead of dinner parties or nights out with friends and that’s alright, just make sure to keep in touch with those who matter to you. Healthy relationships and the upkeep of interaction prevents the brain from slowing down.
- Strong, Passionate Hobbies and Interests – Learning a new skill or picking up a hobby can help promote lifelong cognition. If you already have something you’re passionate about you can continue to expand your knowledge of it. Learning new things, especially things your passionate about (passion makes the learning process easier and more enjoyable), builds new neuropathways in the brain.
Stay healthy!
