JAKE OWEN unveiled the track listing for his new album at an event on Tuesday. As you may have previously heard, it’s called “Greetings From . . . Jake”, and it drops March 29th.
It’s his first album to include duet partners. Vine star LELE PONS joins him on the song “Senorita”. And KID ROCK sings on a track called “The Grass Is Always Greener”.
That one includes the lyric, “The grass is always greener in someone else’s joint.” Here’s what Jake says about that, quote, “I love the innuendo of it. My mom, not so much. She doesn’t understand the funny connotation.”
He got the idea for “Grass Is Always Greener” while playing pickleball at Kid Rock’s house. He was lusting over Kid’s replica of the General Lee.
Quote, “I was like, ‘I want that. I want a ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ car.’ Then I got away from it and I thought, ‘No matter where we are in life, we’re always going to want a little more than we’ve got. That’s just the way the world turns.'”
Another song on the album is called “Made For You” . . . which he’s been playing at his live shows for over a year. He’s already promised to sing that one at Michael Ray and Carly Pearce’s wedding.
Quote, “After I played it at St. Jude Children’s Hospital a few weeks ago, Michael came up to me afterwards and said, ‘Hey, man. I don’t know how to say this. Would you mind playing that song at [our] wedding?’
“I said, ‘Holy [crap]. Yeah, I’d love to.’ And then I realized: ‘I’m a wedding singer now.'”
And then he got serious. He believes it’s a “powerful song about life and love” and the proof is that he’ll be performing it at the wedding of two singers. Quote, “It’s a song that honestly means something to them.”
